Electromagnetic eddy current brake is a new type of auxiliary
brake suitable for marine and land oil drilling rigs. It uses the principle
of electromagnetic induction for wear-free braking. It has the
characteristics of large torque, no wearing parts, long service life and
simple operation and maintenance. The application of electromagnetic eddy
current brake can greatly reduce the wear of the main brake, prolong the
service life of the brake brake hub, reduce the labor intensity of the
driller, and adjust the braking torque by changing the excitation current to
control the drill pipe lowering speed. When the speed is reduced to 50 rpm,
it can reach 75% of the maximum torque, which can fully meet the requirements
of heavy-duty drilling.
