The TG-7716 and TG-7720 Bench-Top Pressurized Consistometer is specifically designed to measure the thickening time of cement slurries in strict compliance with API Spec 10. The unit can also be used to prepare slurries for the measurement of free water content, viscosity, fluid loss, rheological properties, etc.
The pressure chamber is capable of withstanding the high pressures and temperatures to run tests in accordance with most API Spec 10 schedules. The TG- 7716 and TG-7720 is designed to be versatile and extremely accurate. It can be used in remote field locations, mobile labs, and offshore platforms where space is limited.
Measuring the thickening time of cement slurries is a fundamental measurement necessary prior to oil well cementing. The proper technique and procedures are outlined in detail in Section 8 of API Spec 10.

OPERATIONS
● Operation of the consistometer is simple with all the controls conveniently located on the front panel. Measurement of viscosity, pressure and temperature are easily read from the panel-mounted indicators and recorders.
● The consistometer is designed so that closure, heating and pressurization can be achieved quickly. This ensures compliance with the requirement of Section 8 of API Spec 10, as only minimum delay is permitted prior to starting the test.
● The temperature controller will automatically control the rate of temperature rise of the slurry, temperature gradient. When the slurry reaches the desired maximum temperature, the controller will hold the slurry temperature constant.
● Pressure is generated with an air-operated, high pressure pump. Control is maintained by adjusting the air pressure to the pump and by operating a pressure relief valve.
● The temperature and the viscosity of the slurry are permanently noted on a recorder output. As an option, ● The viscosity, or consistency, of the cement is determined by measuring the force generated on a standard torsion spring- by the slurry pressing against a standard paddle as the slurry container is rotated in compliance with API Spec 10. When the desired consistency is reached, the automatic shutdown feature of the instrument will turn off the motor, heater, and timer; and turn on the cooling water. An alarm will sound to alert the operator when the test is completed. |
